Revenue was being carried by the existing list, not new demand. New-customer acquisition had stalled to the point where some months brought in fewer than 20 new customers. A business can’t grow on repeat buyers alone the top of the funnel had gone quiet.
Performance swung hard month to month, with MER bouncing anywhere from the low 4s to nearly 8. Good months couldn’t be repeated and bad months couldn’t be explained, which made it impossible to forecast, plan inventory, or scale with confidence.
Every time spend went up, efficiency came down, so the account stayed small to stay profitable. There was no structure or creative engine in place to add budget without watching MER fall, which capped how big the business could get.
We rebuilt the top of the funnel so growth came from genuinely new buyers – this included diversifying the creative strategy and using a strcuture that focused on prospecting over retargeting.
Month on month, MADE. improved on the previous agency’s results. After one year together, the brand saw a level of revenue growth it hadn’t been able to reach with its former team.
Despite the increase in spend, we held MER consistent month on month, using Meta for acquisition and staying strategic with retention spend to avoid overpaying for customers we already had.
